HI @Kimmim,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet 4650 (often referred to as C4750) is having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi, and you’re encountering a WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) error, you can follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Check WPS Compatibility
- Ensure your router supports WPS. Look for a WPS button on the router or check the router’s documentation.
- Make sure your printer is compatible with WPS. Most HP OfficeJet models support WPS, but it’s good to verify in the printer’s manual.
2. Restart Devices
- Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for 60 seconds, plug it back in, and turn it on.:
- Unplug your router, wait for 30 seconds, then plug it back in. Wait for it to fully restart.
- Restart the device you are using to set up the printer.
3. Try Connecting Without WPS
If WPS is not working, try connecting your printer to Wi-Fi manually:
- Go to the Setup menu (gear icon) on the printer's control panel.
- Select Network Setup or Wireless Settings.
- Choose Wireless Setup Wizard or a similar option.:
- The printer will search for available networks. Select your Wi-Fi network from the list.
Enter Network Password:
- Enter your Wi-Fi password when prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
4. Check Wi-Fi Network Settings
- Ensure your Wi-Fi network’s SSID (network name) is visible and not hidden.
- Verify that your printer is compatible with the network band (2.4 GHz is commonly supported; some printers may not support 5 GHz).
- Ensure your network is using WPA/WPA2 security. Avoid using WEP or no encryption as some printers may not support these.
5. Update Printer Firmware
- Check for Firmware Updates:
- Visit the HP Support website and search for the latest firmware for your HP OfficeJet 4650.
- Download and install any available updates to ensure your printer has the latest software.
6. Use HP Smart App for Setup
- Download and install the HP Smart app from HP Smart on your computer or mobile device.
- Open the HP Smart app and select Add Printer. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
7. Manually Enter Network Details
If the automatic setup fails, you might be able to manually enter network details:
- Go to the Setup menu on the printer’s control panel and select Network Setup.
- Look for an option to manually enter network settings. Enter your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password.
8. Reset Network Settings
- On your printer, go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore Network Settings to reset network settings and try connecting again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
