@SASSYKASS, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro is frequently going offline, which can be frustrating—especially when you need it for an important test! 😞 Don't worry, let's try to fix this so you can print without interruptions.

Restart the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back in.
  5. Turn on the printer.

If your printer is connected wirelessly, ensure it’s on the same network as your computer. If possible, move it closer to the router or try connecting via an Ethernet cable for better stability.

Your printer may be going into sleep mode and losing connection. On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Preferences > Power Management and turn off sleep mode or extend the time.

Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Go to Control PanelProgramsPrograms and Features. Find and uninstall any HP printer software.
  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and download the latest drivers. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the drivers.

In your printer’s settings, set a manual/static IP instead of using automatic DHCP. Refer this guide: Static IP

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

If you’re okay with a wired connection, plug the printer into your computer via USB, which can be more reliable than Wi-Fi.

Give these a shot and let me know if your printer stays online! 🤞😊

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
