Can I print wirelessly from iPad (2015, iOS 15.6) to HP Photosmart C8180 printer?
A few years ago it was only possible with ePrint, which I could never get to work properly.
Is it possible now, a few years later, to print from this iPad?
Thanks!

Welcome to the HP User Community.
No - if ePrint and wireless printing never worked before (and / or was not supported) on this printer, it won't start working now.
The printer is listed in the Mobile Printing document but only for the HP Print Service Plugin (Android) - no ePrint, no HP Smart (used to scan / print in iPad), no AirPrint...
Mobile Printing – Options for Printers
Print from your Android, iOS, or Amazon Fire device with the HP Mobile printing app.
Open the section for your printer series > Find your printer and supported applications.

If you decide to replace your printer, look for a model that supports "Print Anywhere"
Print Anywhere is like ePrint but newer - less archaic.
“Print Anywhere App” Supported on Select Printers
HP Printers - Print Anywhere with the HP Smart App
My guess is that your seven year old iPad will be able to support a new printer as long as you can update the iOS / iPadOS to the current versions as they come along.
