Hi @Grandmajean2,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP DeskJet 2742e is having trouble reconnecting to your Xfinity WiFi network after you upgraded your TV provider. Since your internet provider remains the same, the issue could be related to the new settings or equipment installed during the TV provider upgrade. Here's how to troubleshoot and reconnect your printer to the Xfinity network.
Restart Your Devices
- Power cycle the printer: Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Restart your router/modem: Unplug your router and modem, wait for about 30 seconds, then plug them back in and allow them to fully reboot.
Check Your WiFi Network
- Ensure that the WiFi network name (SSID) and password haven't changed. If they have, you'll need to update the network settings on your printer.
Reconnect the Printer to WiFi
- Via the HP Smart App:
- Open the HP Smart app on your mobile device or computer.
- Select your printer from the list (or add it if it’s not already listed).
- Go to the “Network” section or “WiFi Setup” and follow the prompts to reconnect the printer to your Xfinity WiFi network.
- Using WPS (WiFi Protected Setup):
- On your printer, press and hold the Wireless button until the wireless light starts blinking.
- On your Xfinity router, press the WPS button (usually located on the back or side of the router) within 2 minutes.
- The printer should connect automatically to the WiFi network.
Verify the Connection
- Print a network configuration page from your printer to confirm it is connected to the correct WiFi network.
- Try printing a test page to ensure the connection is stable.
Reset the Printer's Network Settings (if necessary)
- If the above steps don't work, you can reset the network settings on the printer:
- Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons on your printer until the Power light starts blinking.
- Release the buttons, and the printer’s network settings will reset.
- Reconnect the printer to the WiFi network using the steps outlined above.
Reinstall the Printer (if needed)
- If the printer is still not connecting, you might need to remove the printer from your devices and reinstall it using the HP Smart app or your computer’s settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
