Hi I am trying to connect to the wifi. The screen is saying cartridge cannot be used until printer is enrolled in HP instant ink. When I go to the website I am enrolled but it can't connect to my printer. On my screen I can't press any buttons such as home or settings they are not highlighted.

Hi @Trenton665,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am sorry to have you're encountering issues with connecting your printer to the Wi-Fi network and receiving a message stating that "the cartridge cannot be used until the printer is enrolled in HP Instant Ink," but you're already enrolled, follow these steps to resolve the issue

Check Instant Ink Enrollment:

  • Make sure your printer is properly enrolled. You can sign into your HP Instant Ink account to verify your enrollment status.
  • Ensure that your enrollment details, such as postal and email addresses, are correct.

Reinsert Cartridges:

  • Turn on your printer and open the door to the cartridge access area.
  • Wait until the carriage is idle, then remove and reinsert the instant ink cartridges. Ensure they are properly seated in their slots.

Connect to Wi-Fi:

  • If the screen buttons are not functional, perform a printer restart by unplugging the printer from power for a minute and then plugging it back in.
  • After restarting, use the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer to reconnect to Wi-Fi, if accessible.
  • Alternatively, use the HP Smart app on your mobile device or computer to guide you through setting up a wireless connection.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer’s firmware is updated. This can be done using the HP app or by downloading the latest firmware from HP Software and Driver Downloads.

Check Internet Connection:

  • Confirm that your router is working properly and that the internet connection is active.
  • Reconnect any cables, and if using a wireless connection, ensure the printer and router are within an appropriate range.

Reset Web Services:

  • If advised, go into the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS) through a web browser using the printer’s IP address.
  • Under the Web Services tab, try removing and resetting the web services to clear any server errors that might be hindering enrollment and ink validation.

Take care and have an amazing day!
