Hello:
I recently dropped internet service provider Comcast Xfinity due to their constant rate hikes in favor of T-Mobile. My printer no longer can print as the WiFi is not recognized by my HP Color LaserJet MFP M182nw printer.
At https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Wireless-Networking-Internet/I-CHANGED-WIFI-IN-THE-HOUSE-SO-HO... with a similar problem in a post entitled, "I Changed Wifi in the House, So How Do I Change It on the Printer?" the responder (sneha_01) said to follow the steps to get the printer recognized by the new WiFi. Those steps didn't work.
I tried Method 2 first via the HP Smart app. I followed it exactly. When the app gets to selecting the printer, the pinwheel just spins and spins. I tried deleting and re-installing the app. Still "no joy."
I tried Method 1. Part of the problem is that the options in the printer's control panel are different from the myriad amount of info out there to resolve the problem -- and it's different from what Sneha_01 wrote, too.
Method 3. I have the same problem as in the HP Smart App.
All I want to do is change the WiFi the printer accesses. That's it. It's not like I'm trying to figure out the equation for faster than light travel for a 100-ton rocket ship.
Please advise.

I procrastinated trying to fix this problem due to the frustration the first time around. Here's the current status:
- I couldn't can't get the printer to recognize the WiFi via your steps.
- I CAN print via the USB cord.
The good news is that when I tried to connect to the WiFi via my laptop's HP Smart app, I was able to connect to my Wifi. Once that happened, it all went pretty smoothly. The WiFi option shows up as a separate printer from the USB one. Both are fully functional now. I doubt I'll use the HP Smart app on my iPhone but it's nice that it's there.
Lastly, within the printer settings (a tile option in HP Smart), under Information > Network Information, it is showing as connected. The problem in connecting was twofold: 1) it wasn't connecting to my WiFi in the HP Smart app. When it was "searching for printers," it wouldn't connect to the WiFi. And that dovetails to 2). When it asked for the password in my settings on my iPhone, it showed up as "Direct-2b-HP M182 Laser Jet." I entered the correct password but it STILL wouldn't connect.
Connecting via the HP Smart app on my laptop was WAY easier. So, all's well that end's well. I'm up and running now. So, thank you for your help and apologies for not responding to you fast enough. As I said, I was really frustrated and thus procrastinated almost a month before I re-visited it again.
Thanks,
GR

Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
HP printer setup (HP Smart app)
Use the HP Smart app for computers and mobile devices to print, copy, scan, troubleshoot printer issues, and set up a printer on a wireless network.
Download the HP Smart app, and then follow the instructions to set up a USB connection
Important note: Select the option "Printer not found" to get the USB Setup flow. Or connect the USB Cable and run the HP Smart Application to add the device. Hence, the HP Smart can discover printer with the USB Connection
Windows
- If you already connected the printer USB cable to your computer, disconnect it, and then remove the printer from your computer.
- Search for and open Printers & scanners, and then select the name of your printer from the list.
- Click Remove device,
- click Yes and then restart the computer.
Make sure an open USB port is available on your computer. Do not connect the printer to a USB hub or docking station as the printer might not receive enough power to operate properly.
Go to HP Smart - Microsoft Store and install the HP Smart app.
Open the app and then follow the guided installation to complete the setup. If the setup does not begin automatically, click the Plus sign to add your printer.

Download the HP Smart app, and then follow the instructions to set up a Wireless connection
Get the HP Smart app for Android, Apple iOS and iPadOS, Windows, and Mac to set up and use your HP printer to print, scan, copy, and to manage settings.
Do the following if you are setting up the printer on a Wi-Fi network:
- Place the printer and the computer or mobile device near the Wi-Fi router.
- Turn on Wi-Fi on your computer or mobile device and connect to your network. If the computer is connected to the network with an Ethernet cable, temporarily disconnect the cable and use the Wi-Fi connection during the setup.
- Enable Bluetooth on the computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.
- For Windows computers, turn on Windows Update to make sure Windows is always up to date.
- After installing HP Smart for iOS and Android, enable the mobile device location service and allow the app to use your location to detect the printer and offer solutions during setup.
- Download the HP Smart app from 123.hp.com (Android, Apple iOS, iPadOS), HP Smart - Microsoft Store (Windows),
- If you are prompted to sign in with Microsoft to use the app across devices, you can sign in or click No, thanks to continue.
Note:
Disconnect from a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection before downloading.
If you are setting up HP Smart for the first time, you must create or sign in to an HP account to access all printer functions.
In HP Smart, click Add Printer or the plus sign
to search for the printer and then follow the instructions to complete the setup.

If your printer is not found, continue to the next step.
- Restore network default settings on the printer. Most printers with a touchscreen display or menu: Open the Wireless or Setup menu, select Network setup or Settings, and then select Restore Network Settings.
- Printers without a touchscreen display or menu: Go to Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP printer to restore default settings by pressing the buttons on your printer.
Within two hours, restart the printer, close then re-open HP Smart, and then try adding the printer again.
