Before this week, my HP Envy 4500 all-in-one printer worked fine with a DSL-company provided wireless router. On Wednesday, I upgraded my home internet service from DSL to cable. The cable company supplied a new modem & router box, which is an XB8-T from XFINITY. Now I can't get my HP Envy 4500 all-in-one printer to connect to the new Wireless network. I called XFINITY and we changed the router to use unique names for the 2.4GHz wifi network and the 5.0GHz wifi network. The printer finds the network with the name for the 2.4Ghz, but when I enter the wifi password and tell it to connect, after several seconds of waiting, the software/printer reports that the connection failed. So this change did not solve the problem.
Everytime I try to get the printer to connect to the new 2.4GHz WiFi network, it fails. The HP software says the reason for the failure is "Unknown".
Questions:
1. Is there a way to reset the HP Envy 4500 all-in-one printer to its factory defaults?
2. Does the HP Envy 4500 have restrictions for the types of characters and the length of characters present in the SSID/Network name? My network name/SSD has 12 characters including a period.
3. Will the printer's "WPA-PSK" authentication type work with a router that is set up for "WPA3-Personal Transition"?
4. What else can I do or try?
