I have a Deskjet 2700.  recently installed a new WiFi router.  every other device reconnected fine (TV, phone etc) - except this printer.   Have tried diagnostic tool on HP app (said unable to resolve).  I'm getting 'Driver Unavailable' message.

Any ideas how I reconnect the printer to the new router!

Thanks

I understand you are trying to reconnect your HP DeskJet 2700 All-in-One Printer to your new WiFi router, follow these steps:

Step 1: Prepare for the Connection

Restart Your Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, wait for 10 seconds, and then turn it back on.

Check Router Settings:

  • Ensure that the 2.4 GHz band is enabled on your router (many printers do not support 5 GHz).
  • Disable MAC address filtering temporarily if it’s enabled.

Step 2: Reset the Printer's Network Settings

  1. Reset Network Settings:
    • On the printer's control panel, press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button at the same time for 3 seconds until the Power button starts blinking. This will reset the network settings to their defaults.

Step 3: Reconnect the Printer to WiFi

Install HP Smart App:

  • If you haven’t already, download and install the HP Smart app on your mobile device or computer. You can find it in the App Store, Google Play, or on the HP website.

Connect via HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app and click on the "+" sign to add a new printer.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your printer to your WiFi network. The app will guide you through the process, including selecting your WiFi network and entering the password.

Step 4: Install or Update Printer Drivers

Download Drivers:

  • Go to the HP Support website and search for your printer model (HP DeskJet 2700 series).
  • Download and install the latest drivers and software for your printer.

Driver Installation:

  • Run the downloaded driver file and follow the installation instructions. Make sure to select the option to connect the printer via WiFi when prompted.

Step 5: Troubleshoot the 'Driver Unavailable' Message

Uninstall Existing Drivers:

  • On your computer, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your HP DeskJet 2700 and select Remove device.
  • Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and uninstall any HP software related to your printer.

Reinstall Drivers:

  • Use the drivers you downloaded earlier to reinstall the printer.

Step 6: Test the Connection

  1. Print a Test Page:
    • After the setup is complete, try printing a test page to ensure everything is working correctly.

Additional Tips

  • Firmware Update: Check if there’s a firmware update for your printer on the HP website and install it if available.
  • WPS Connection: If your router supports WPS, you can also use this method to connect. Press the WPS button on your router, then press and hold the Wireless button on your printer until the Wireless light starts blinking.
