Hi @RAATravelHTX,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're having trouble connecting your HP Smart Tank 5000/5100 All-In-One Printer to your laptop or hotspot, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Ensure Proper Connection: First, make sure that the printer is properly connected to your laptop and the hotspot. If you're trying to connect wirelessly, ensure that both the printer and the laptop are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If you're using a USB connection, ensure that the cable is securely plugged into both the printer and the laptop.
  • Check Wi-Fi Settings: If you're using a Wi-Fi connection, double-check that the Wi-Fi network settings on your printer are correctly configured. You may need to re-enter the Wi-Fi network password or reconnect to the network.
  • Restart Devices: Sometimes, simply restarting your printer, laptop, and hotspot can resolve connectivity issues. Turn off each device, wait a few seconds, and then turn them back on. Software and Drivers for HP Smart Tank 5000/5100 All-in-One Printer
  • Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your laptop. You can usually download drivers from the HP website or use the software that comes with your printer.
  • Check Hotspot Settings: If you're trying to connect to a mobile hotspot, make sure that the hotspot is configured correctly and that it's providing a stable internet connection.
  • Firewall and Antivirus: Sometimes, firewall or antivirus software on your laptop can interfere with the printer connection. Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software and try connecting again.
  • Reset Printer Network Settings: If you're still having trouble, you can try resetting the network settings on your printer. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.
