Here are detailed steps to reconnect your HP printer to Wi-Fi after a long period of inactivity:

 

Step 1: Restart Devices

  1. Turn off your printer, computer, and Wi-Fi router.
  2. Wait for 2-3 minutes, then turn on the router first, followed by the printer and computer.

Step 2: Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode

  1. If your printer has a touchscreen, navigate to Network Settings > Restore Network Settings.
  2. For non-touchscreen models, press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds until the wireless light blinks.

Step 3: Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your computer or smartphone.
  2. Select Add Printer and follow the prompts to connect your printer to the Wi-Fi network.

Step 4: Assign a Static IP Address

  1. Access your router's settings and assign a static IP address to your printer.
  2. Update the printer's IP address in the Devices and Printers section on your computer.

Step 5: Update Printer Firmware

  1. Once connected, visit the HP Support website to check for firmware updates.
  2. Download and install the latest firmware for your printer model.

Step 6: Test Connectivity

Print a test page to confirm the printer is online and functioning properly.
