@rozgator, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your new internet service!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Since you've switched from satellite to fiber optic internet, your printer might still be trying to connect to the old network. Here are some troubleshooting steps to get your HP DeskJet 2742e connected to your new Wi-Fi:
Reset Network Settings on the Printer
- Power on the printer if it’s not already.
- Press and hold the Wireless button (📶) and the Cancel button (❌) simultaneously for 5 seconds until the Wi-Fi light starts blinking.
- This will reset the network settings and allow you to set up a new connection.
Reconnect the Printer to the New Wi-Fi
Option 1: HP Smart App (Recommended)
- Download and open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
- Click Set up a new printer and follow the instructions.
- When prompted, select your new Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
- Complete the setup and print a test page to confirm.
Option 2: WPS Push Button Method (If Supported)
- Press and hold the Wireless button (📶) on the printer for 3 seconds until it starts blinking.
- Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your router.
- Wait for the Wireless light to turn solid, indicating a successful connection.
Reinstall Printer Drivers (If Needed)
- Uninstall existing printer software:
- Go to Control Panel > Programs & Features and uninstall any HP printer software.
- Download and install the latest drivers:
- Visit the HP Support Website and download the latest driver for your HP DeskJet 2742e.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect the printer.
Check Router Settings
- Ensure that 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi is enabled, as many HP printers do not support 5 GHz networks.
- Disable MAC address filtering if it’s turned on.
- Restart your router and printer after making changes.
After completing these steps, try printing a test page. Let me know if you need further assistance! 😊
Take care, and have an amazing day!
