HP Smart Tank 7301 All-in-One
Microsoft Windows 11

After a modem/router change, my 7301 doesn’t see the new network. I’ve tried manually setting it up,

and using the smart app, it just sees it as being off-line when I can see all the lights are on. Any suggestions.

Hi @Azwheels,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To get your HP Smart Tank 7301 back online after changing your modem/router, try the following steps.

Restart Devices: Power off your printer, modem, and router. Wait for about 30 seconds, then turn them back on.

Reconnect to Wi-Fi:

  • Use the Wi-Fi Setup Mode:
    1. Press and hold the Wi-Fi button and the Cancel button on the printer until the Power button blinks.
    2. This resets the network settings and puts the printer into setup mode.
  • Open the HP Smart app on your device.
  • Follow the prompts to add a new printer and select your Wi-Fi network.

Check Printer Status: Ensure that the printer is selected as the default printer and that it shows as "online" in the HP Smart app.

Reinstall the Printer:

  • In the HP Smart app, remove the printer and add it again by following the on-screen instructions.

Update Firmware:

  • Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can do this through the HP Smart app.

Disable VPN: If you're using a VPN, disable it during the setup process.

Check Network Configuration:

  • Ensure that your modem/router is set to 2.4 GHz if the printer does not support 5 GHz.

If these steps don't resolve the issue, try resetting the printer to factory settings and setting it up again:

  1. Factory Reset:
    • Turn off the printer.
    • Press and hold the Resume button, then press the Power button.
    • Continue holding the Resume button until the attention light turns on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden,

So far the only way for me to print to my HP7301, is to put it in direct connect mode.  the HP Smart app only see the printer in offline mode, (which stinks)  Also I have used the HP smart Doctor, and it only sees it as being offline.

Any other fix would be great at this time, cause right now I'm at a loss.

Hi @Azwheels,

Thank you for your response,

Steps to Reconnect HP Smart Tank 7301 to New Network

Reset Network Settings on Printer:

  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to the Wireless Settings menu.
  • Select Restore Network Settings to reset the network settings to default.

Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi Network:

  • On the printer's control panel, go to the Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your new Wi-Fi network.

Reinstall the Printer Using HP Smart App:

  • Ensure your computer or mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.
  • Open the HP Smart App on your device.
  • Click on the Plus (+) icon or Add Printer to find and add your printer.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP support site.
  • Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix connectivity issues.

Check Printer IP Address:

  • Print a Network Configuration Page from your printer to get the current IP address.
  • Ensure the IP address is within the same range as your new modem/gateway.

Additional Troubleshooting Tips

  • Restart Network Devices: Restart your printer, modem, and router to refresh the network connection.
  • Disable Firewall Temporarily: Sometimes, the firewall can block the connection. Temporarily disable it and see if the printer connects.
  • Assign a Static IP: Assign a static IP address to your printer through the printer’s control panel or your router’s settings to ensure it always gets the same IP address.
  • Check Network Name and Password: Ensure there are no typos in the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password.

If the problem persists, you may need to perform a factory reset on your printer and go through the initial setup process again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
