I just upgraded my envy printer to the 6000 series. I love these printers because I don't need WiFi in my home to wirelessly print from my iPhone or iPad. The HP smart app has my printer in a setup mode of which I do not want to be in because I read it can't be in set up mode in order to connect to WiFi direct. The choices under my WiFi settings do not show a choice for "Direct-Ba..." only "setup..." so I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out what to do. Please help me! And I'm not super computer literate so please use laymen style information. Thank you

Hi @Starfinn1,

I understand you are not able to get out of setup mode.
Reset the printer and then first set up the Wi-Fi direct connection before adding the printer on HP Smart
Print a network configuration report or help page to find the Wi-Fi Direct information.

Make sure paper is loaded in the main tray, and then turn on the printer.
-
Print a network configuration report or help page using the printer control panel buttons. Use a method that matches the buttons on your printer.
-
Press the Information button
.
-
Press and hold the Wi-Fi Direct button for 3 seconds.
-
Press the Wireless
and Information
buttons at the same time.
-
Press and hold the Resume button
or
for up to ten seconds or until the report prints.
-
For HP DeskJet 6000 and 6400, ENVY 6000 and 6400, and Tango printers, touch and hold the Information button
until all control panel buttons light up, and then touch the Information button
and Cancel button
at the same time.
The name and password are listed under the Wi-Fi Direct section.
-
Print with Wi-Fi Direct (iOS, iPadOS)
Send a print job using a Wi-Fi Direct printer connection. Complete these steps while next to the printer.
-
Make sure paper is loaded in the main tray, and then turn on the printer.
-
If you want to print web content, such as an email or cloud-based document, open the item before proceeding.
-
On your mobile device, open the Wi-Fi network menu, and then select the option starting with DIRECT followed by your printer model.
-
If prompted, enter the Wi-Fi Direct password, and then tap Join.
-
Open the item you want to print, and then select the option to Print.
-
Select AirPrint, if prompted.
-
Select your printer, and then tap Print.
-
If you were previously connected to a Wi-Fi network, return to the Wi-Fi network menu to reconnect to the network.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
