Hello !
I just acquired a new old printer, HP envy 5530, and managed to connect it to the internet router. My computer recognizes it, but says the printer's not connected to internet. I couldn't finish the installation, cause when I launch the assistance software and click on "connect printer to the web" I have an internet page that says "Sorry, this page could not be accessed.192[....] took too long to reply. I don't understand how is it possible that the printer is connected on the router ( it's written on the printer's screen ), known by the compu and yet is not connected to the internet on the computer O___o' !!!
I called the assistance and they said the printer was too old ( 2018 ) for them to help me so here I am !
Thanks for your responses... I'm french so please, by gentle xD

Hi @Edith78,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you've encountered an issue with your HP Envy 5530 printer not being able to connect to the internet despite being connected to your router. This can be a common issue with networked printers. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem.
Restart Your Printer and Router:
- Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Restart your router by unplugging it from the power source for about 30 seconds and then plugging it back in.
- Wait for your router to fully restart and then turn on your printer.
Check Wi-Fi Signal Strength:
- Ensure that your printer is within range of your Wi-Fi network. Weak Wi-Fi signals can cause connection issues.
- If your printer is too far away from the router, try moving it closer and see if that resolves the issue.
Reconnect to Wi-Fi:
- On your printer's control panel, navigate to the wireless settings.
- Find your Wi-Fi network in the list of available networks and select it.
- Enter your Wi-Fi password to reconnect the printer to your network.
Update Firmware:
- Check if there's a firmware update available for your HP Envy 5530 printer. Sometimes, firmware updates can fix connectivity issues. You can usually find firmware updates on the HP website.
Network Configuration:
- Ensure that your printer is set to use the same network (SSID) that your computer is connected to. Sometimes, dual-band routers can have separate SSIDs for 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks, and devices need to be on the same network.
Firewall/Antivirus Software:
- Check your computer's firewall or antivirus software to ensure it's not blocking the printer's communication. You may need to add an exception for your printer.
Static IP Address:
- Consider assigning a static IP address to your printer through your router's settings. This can sometimes help with network stability.
HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- HP offers a diagnostic tool called "HP Print and Scan Doctor" that can help diagnose and resolve printer connectivity issues. You can download it from the HP website and run it to check for problems.
Remember to restart your computer after making any changes to ensure that it recognizes the printer properly. Hopefully, one of these steps will help you get your HP Envy 5530 connected to the internet and functioning correctly with your computer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
