I was able to do what I'll describe below many months ago, but not now.  OfficeJet Pro8028e is verified it's on my home WiFi home network.  When tried to print, my iPhone and iPad could search to the right printer name but after pressed the printer name, it spinning and after 3 seconds mobile devices said "no printer selected".   It is not saying "printer offline".  I also reboot the printer, but it still did the same.          Also, I don't have HP Smart APP in the mobile devices.  I installed the APP after the above event, but event using HP Smart to print, the APP also could not connect to the printer.  Thanks in advance.

Hi @Mickey112,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro8028e Printer Can't print from iPhone and iPad on the same home wifi network

Here are some steps to troubleshoot the printing issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e from your iPhone and iPad:

Check Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure that both the printer and your mobile devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Sometimes, devices can connect to different bands (e.g., 2.4 GHz vs. 5 GHz), which can cause connectivity issues.

Update Printer Firmware: Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates using the printer's control panel or through the HP Smart app. Update the firmware on an HP printer

Restart Devices:

  • Restart your iPhone/iPad.
  • Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Reinstall HP Smart App: Since the HP Smart app couldn't connect to the printer, try uninstalling it, restarting your devices, and then reinstalling it from the App Store.

AirPrint Settings: Ensure that AirPrint is enabled on your printer:

  • On the printer control panel, navigate to the Network or Wireless settings, and make sure AirPrint is turned on.

Network Check: If you have a dual-band router, try connecting both your printer and mobile devices to the 2.4 GHz band instead of the 5 GHz band, as some printers have better compatibility with 2.4 GHz.

Reset Network Settings on iOS:

  • Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will remove saved Wi-Fi networks and passwords, so you'll need to reconnect to your Wi-Fi.

Print from Other Apps: Try printing from a different app (like Notes or Photos) to see if the issue persists across apps.

Firewall/Router Settings: Check your router's settings to ensure that no firewall settings are blocking communication with the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
