I'm able to print, but when I go select the printer in my Printers/Scanners preference pane and select "Scan," then "Open Scanner" I just get a blank dialogue box. How do I access my scanner????

This problem is related to a whole series of baffling, intermittent connection issues that are apparently caused by the "Advanced Security" feature in our new Xfinity account.
