We just got AT&T Internet Air 5G service via the All-Fi Hub Gateway, however we cannot get the WiFi connection for the printer set up. Keep getting the message " connection failed". There has to be a way around this problem. We even tried turning off the firewall... no go. Any ideas?

Hi @sillycat41,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Restart Devices:
- Restart both your AT&T All-Fi Hub Gateway and the HP ENVY 5530 printer. Turn them off and wait for 30 seconds before turning them back on.
Verify Network Credentials:
- Ensure that the WiFi network name (SSID) and password are correctly entered in the printer settings.
Reset Network Settings on Printer:
- On the HP ENVY 5530, navigate to Settings > Network Setup > Restore Network Settings to reset the network settings.
Run Wireless Setup Wizard:
- On the printer, go to Settings > Network Setup > Wireless Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard.
- Follow the prompts to select your WiFi network and enter the password.
Check Router Frequency:
- Make sure your router is set to 2.4 GHz or dual-band mode. The HP ENVY 5530 works better with the 2.4 GHz frequency.
- If the router broadcasts on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, ensure the printer is connecting to the 2.4 GHz network.
Router and Network Settings:
- Access your router settings and ensure that no MAC address filtering or other security measures are blocking the printer.
- Temporarily disable the router's firewall to see if it resolves the connection issue.
Reassign IP Address:
- On your printer, navigate to Settings > Network Setup > IP Settings and select Automatic IP.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Ensure your printer firmware is up-to-date. You can do this through the printer menu or download the latest firmware from HP Support.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for responding. We did try the steps you suggested but nothing worked. Finally figured out the problem... we had to give the new AT&T the same name and IP address as our old router and then it worked! Wish the AT&T instructions had mentioned that.... we spent hours trying to figure it out. 😞

Hi @sillycat41,
Thank you for the update! I'm really glad to hear you were able to get your HP Envy 5530 connected in the end, even though it took some time. It’s definitely frustrating when such a simple detail like matching the network name and IP address isn't mentioned in the instructions, totally understandable that it took a while to figure out. 😞
I appreciate you sharing what worked; this could definitely help others in the same situation. If you need anything else or have any more questions, feel free to reach out anytime!
Warm regards,
Kuroi_Kenshi
