Hi @Tonylib4
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're having trouble connecting your HP printer to your wireless router due to a password issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve this:
1. Double-Check Password
- Ensure you are entering the correct Wi-Fi password. Remember that passwords are case-sensitive. You may want to try typing it out on another device to verify it.
2. Restart Devices
- Restart your printer, router, and any devices you're using to set up the connection. Sometimes, a simple reboot can resolve connectivity issues.
3. Use the WPS Method
- If your router supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), try using this method to connect your printer:
- Press the WPS button on your router.
- On your printer, go to the wireless settings menu and select the WPS option.
4. Check Network Compatibility
- Make sure your printer is compatible with your router’s Wi-Fi frequency. Some printers only support 2.4 GHz networks, so if your router is set to 5 GHz only, it may not connect.
5. Forget Network and Reconnect
- If your printer has previously connected to the network, go into the Wi-Fi settings and choose to forget the network, then try reconnecting.
6. Update Printer Firmware
- Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates using the HP Smart app or through the printer’s control panel.
7. Reset Network Settings on Printer
- You can reset the network settings on your printer to clear any stored settings:
- Access the printer’s settings menu, look for Network or Wireless, and select the option to reset network settings.
8. Check Router Settings
- Log into your router's admin page (usually by typing 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 into a web browser) and check if there are any MAC address filtering settings that might be blocking your printer.
9. Use Ethernet for Initial Setup
- If you have an Ethernet cable, temporarily connect the printer directly to the router. Once it’s set up, you can switch back to a wireless connection.
10. Factory Reset the Printer
- If none of the above work, consider performing a factory reset on your printer. Be aware that this will erase all settings, so you’ll need to set it up again from scratch.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
