macOS 11.0 Big Sur

I've upgraded my WIFI with a new TP-Link Deco X20 router.    On my mac I'm on the latest version of the HP printer driver, and I'm trying unsuccessfully to configure the new WIFI name and password.    No other device in my household has had this issue.

I've got my MacOS 11 laptop connected Via USB cable to the printer.  I've opened the HTML Config and gone to the Networking -> Wireless screen.   Here I've chosen my network name, and input my WPA password.    When I click apply I get a browser (Chrome) error:

This page isn't working

localhost didn't send any data

ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE

Consequently my wifi's password hasn't been saved to the printer's config and I can't print wirelessly.

I've been on the phone for over 1 hour with HP Support.    We tried installing the WIFI printer via the HP Smart MAcOS app, to no avail.  I was guided to follow the "HTML Config" method, which we went through together (even though I'd done it myself previously) to no avail.   I've also tried the HP Smart app on my ipad.    No luck.

It was suggested perhaps my router doesn't support the right version of WPA WIFI encryption, but the product literature suggest otherwise.  TP-Link says my Deco X20 router supports WPA-Personal, WPA2-Personal, WPA3-Personal.  See TP-Link Deco X20 spec sheet .

I'm getting a bit desperate.   Please help!
