HP DeskJet 2721e All-in-One Printer

I have had a new router installed and since then my printer will not connect to the internet.  I have deleted the printer from my computer and reinstalled (have done this several times using the prompts from HP) but still cannot connect.

HI @Bratto25,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Gather Information

  1. Network Name (SSID): Know the SSID (network name) of your new router.
  2. Network Password: Ensure you have the correct network password (WPA, WPA2) for your network.

Reset Network Settings on Your Printer

  1. Turn on the Printer: Ensure that your printer is powered on.
  2. Reset Network Settings:
    • Press and hold the Wireless button (or Wireless and Cancel buttons) on your printer until the Power light blinks, then release the button(s).
    • This will put the printer into setup mode.

Reconnect Using HP Smart App

Download HP Smart App:

  • Ensure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed on your computer or mobile device. You can download it from HP Smart.

Open HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app and add your printer. The app will search for printers in setup mode.

Follow Setup Instructions:

  • Follow the on-screen prompts to add your printer to the new wireless network.
  • You’ll be asked to enter the SSID and password for your network.

Connect Using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) (Alternative Method)

Locate WPS Button:

  • Find and press the WPS button on your router.

Press Wireless Button on Printer:

  • Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer for about 3 seconds, until the Wireless light starts blinking.

WPS Connection:

  • Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your router. The printer will attempt to connect to the network automatically.

Confirm Network Connection

  1. Check Connectivity:
    • After setup, the Wireless light on the printer should be solid, indicating it is connected to the network.

Print Network Configuration Page (Optional)

  1. Print Configuration Page:
    • Press the Wireless button and Information button together or refer to your printer manual to print a network configuration page. It will show the connection status and IP address.

I hope this helps.
