@Rich1489, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP DeskJet 2800e Printer Connection Issues!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you are experiencing connection issues with your HP DeskJet 2800e and the screen and buttons are all flashing, follow these steps to resolve the problem:

Check the Power Supply

Ensure that the printer is properly plugged into a power source and turned on. Verify that the power cable is securely connected to both the printer and the electrical outlet.

Restart the Printer

Turn off the printer and wait for about 15 seconds before turning it back on.

Verify the Network Connection

Ensure that the printer is connected to the network correctly. You can connect the RJ45 network cable to the Ethernet port at the back of your touch screen. If using Wi-Fi, make sure the printer is within range of the wireless router.

Check the Settings

You may need to check your TCP/IP settings to ensure proper connection. To check or configure TCP/IP settings:

  1. Exit your scanner system software by pressing the Quit button and selecting Exit.
  2. Press the System Setup button.
  3. Press the Network Connection button to open the Network and Dial-up Connections window.
  4. Double-click on Local Area Connection to open the status dialog box.
  5. Click the Properties button, then select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click the Properties button again.
  6. Select "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" if your network has a DHCP or BOOTP server.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
