HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 4675 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

My printer HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4675 AIO suddenly lost its Wi-Fi connection with my PC.

The PC operates with Windows 11 Version 21H2 (OS Build 22000.856).

Until it "disappeared" the printer was working without any problems, and nothing was done in the PC except the routine Windows update(s).

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall this printer, umpteen times now (!!!), but the OS refuses to detect the printer over Wi-Fi. Running the original CD or the downloaded latest setup file from HP website does not even attempt to install the printer. All that get installed are just the "other" software like OCR, Help, HP Update etc. and then the setup window just terminates.

I have also done a clean reinstall of the OS, but the things remain as before as far as installing the printer over Wi-Fi is concerned.

The printer however is detected, installed and working well with the USB connection to the PC.

The problem is that others are unable to make use of this printer due to the wireless connectivity issues.

I have attempted every solution/suggestion available through Google search as well as through HP Support website, related to uninstallation/installation, printer driver, registry editing etc. Nothing worked.

The printer is also listed in the Wi-Fi Router in the Client table. The IPv4 address on the printer display exactly matches the IPv4 address shown in the Router page.

The PC/Laptop/Cell Phone simply refuse to detect the printer over Wi-Fi. These were all working fine until the sudden "disappearance".

Any help with restoring the printer wireless connectivity is greatly appreciated.🙂

The good news about having tried everything is that there is a lot of information and the results are generally conclusive.

The bad news about having tried everything is that it leaves little if anything to try next.

True - the software CD is too old to install the printer software - keep it around, though.  The latest versions of the printer software (and those not so new) have been repackaged without the OCR software.  IF the OCR software on that CD still works, it could be useful later....

True - although rare, it is possible the Wireless radio on the printer has failed.  This does not usually happen without the printer squawking about the problem (issuing an error indicating the wireless radio has failed).

What to do?

"If you have not already done so"...

If you managed at some point to get the HP Smart application installed, consider uninstalling it for now.

When installed, the app is listed in Settings > Apps > Apps and Features

The application can be uninstalled from that location.

Check / Update Router

  • Temporarily switch off un-needed accessories / devices that are connected to the router:  TVs, phones, game boxes, and the like.
  • Remove any / all entries for the printer from the router, including any IP/Mac Address Pairs that are listed.
  • Check for firmware updates for your router - this is important.  Note that if your router is old enough that it can no longer be updated, this can be a potential trouble spot.   Old routers are not your friend.
  • Check the router logs - there is frequently information there that can help with errant connections.
  • Regardless of whether you make any changes on the router, reboot / restart the router.
  • If you can stand it, leave some of the devices switched off that you would normally not consider living without.

Reset / Hard Restart the printer Printer Turns Off Unexpectedly or Repeatedly >> Steps 2 and 4

Disconnect the USB cable from the printer.

Restart the printer - see if it can find its way onto your network.

Note:

If you normally use a static IP / manual IP address for the printer, hold off on assigning that for now - the point is to see whether the router will accept the printer and assign it a working IP address.

If the printer is accepted on the network...

HP Easy Start Printer Setup Software

Basic Instructions - Install the Full Feature Software / Full Driver printer software

Preparation

  • If the printer software is still / already installed, Uninstall the printer software  from Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features > Restart the computer and log in – Reference Uninstall HP printer software and drivers

After the printer software is uninstalled, check that the printer is not still lurking in Devices and Printers

If the printer is listed, Right-Click on the printer and "Remove" > Restart the computer and sign in.

  • If using VPN, shut it off to install software.  NOTE >> If you don’t know what this is, you are not using a VPN – ignore this part.

  • Reminder:  If using USB cable between printer and computer, disconnect the cable before installing software.  Later... Connect the cable when instructed (near the end of the installation procedure).

  • Observation:  It is possible (assuming your Wireless Network is stable) that using a Wireless connection to install the printer software might work better than using an Ethernet Connection.   Personal choice - the Wireless connection method is recommended when you face insurmountable issues installing the software.

Installation

  • Download and Save the Full Feature Software installation package or the Easy Start Software
  • Open File Explorer
  • Navigate to the folder in which you saved the installation file  (likely Downloads)
  • Right-Click on the installation package and “Run as Administrator
  • After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in

If using Easy Start - Notes

  • Skip any extra software / offers you do not want – Wording varies as does the number of times you have to “skip” or opt-out of various options.
  • When asked, opt for "Full Software and Drivers" (exact wording might vary).
  • Easy_Start_Full_Driver_2Easy_Start_Full_Driver_2
  • If, after the Full Software and Drivers option is selected, the installation terminates (suddenly stops and disappears – never comes back): Open your Downloads folder > Look for and Right-Click on the full Web installation package and “Run as Administrator

First of all, thank you for this detailed and step-by-step procedure!

I have proceeded exactly as suggested, following all steps religiously, but the printer still refuses to get installed.😥

The printer displays an IP address which confirms that it is connected to the Wi-Fi network. The Wi-Fi router page for connected clients also lists this printer with the same IP address as seen on the printer display.

However, the PC/Laptop/Cell phone refuse to detect the printer over Wi-Fi. It does not matter which version of the HP software is being used (original CD through the latest version downloaded from HP website). And, regardless of the OS i.e., windows11 or Linux OS.

The printer gets connected over USB connection without any issues though, regardless of the HP software version.

I believe, and as you also mentioned, the wireless radio on the printer is probably mal-functioning when it comes to detection by Windows11 or Linux OS.

Maybe time to visit the HP service centre or look for another printer!🤔

Once again thank you so much for taking out time to respond in detail.🙂

You are welcome.

Sounds odd, I think I am missing something.

If the printer is connecting to the network and the router, the wireless is working.

If not already done -- considerations and checkpoints...

===========================================================================

Wi-Fi Direct

Two points:

If you are not using it, normally this setting should be toggled OFF on the printer

If all else fails, Wi-Fi Direct might be worth considering...

HP printer is offline or not responding

Sections of Interest include:

  • Create manual IP / static IP address
  • Change connection type to TCP/IP

Example - EWS - Network > Wireless > IPv4 Configuration

Note:  If using your ISP in the DNS section, change it to the router address (to try)

Method - Create TCP IP port (InkJet Printer)

Find printer's IP /  IPv4 address

Print a Configuration Page

OR

Tap on the wireless icon on Printer Control / Display Panel

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers

Right-Click on the printer > Left-Click Printer Properties

Select Tab Ports  > Add Port

Select Standard TCP/IP Port > New Port and follow the wizard.
Use / Enter IP address for the printer.

Dual Band Weirdness

Matched Pairs

Check the router for the listing type of the connected devices.

Check that any IP / Mac address pairs are correctly matched.

This check is not expected to find anything - in fact, the connections should match up and be correct.
