@Sheila12466, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you resolve the issue with your HP DeskJet 4100 All-in-One printer getting stuck at the “Get the IP Address” stage during Wi-Fi setup:
Restart All Devices
- Turn off your printer, router, and the device you're using for setup.
- Unplug the printer and router from power for 30 seconds.
- Plug them back in and power them on.
- Wait until the router is fully back online before turning on the printer.
Check Printer’s Wireless Status
- On the printer, press the Wireless button.
- If the Wireless light is solid blue, it means the printer is connected.
- If it’s blinking or off, the printer is not connected.
Use HP Smart App for Setup
- Download or open the HP Smart app on your phone or computer.
- Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your device.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to add your printer and connect it to Wi-Fi.
- If prompted for a PIN, open the printer’s cartridge access door and use the PIN on the label inside.
Use Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) as an Alternative
If your router supports WPS:
- On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button for 3 seconds until it starts blinking.
- Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your router.
- Wait for the Wireless light to turn solid blue.
Avoid Guest or Public Networks
- Ensure you're not trying to connect to a guest or public Wi-Fi network, which may block printer communication.
Move Printer Closer to Router
- Keep the printer within 8 meters (26 feet) of the router.
- Avoid walls or electronic interference between the printer and router.
