I cannot get my printer to reconnect to wifi. I have followed all instructions and still nothing; gets hung up on the "Get the IP Address" stage of installation. No issues with wifi; great connection.

@Sheila12466, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you resolve the issue with your HP DeskJet 4100 All-in-One printer getting stuck at the “Get the IP Address” stage during Wi-Fi setup:

Restart All Devices

  • Turn off your printer, router, and the device you're using for setup.
  • Unplug the printer and router from power for 30 seconds.
  • Plug them back in and power them on.
  • Wait until the router is fully back online before turning on the printer.

Check Printer’s Wireless Status

  • On the printer, press the Wireless button.
  • If the Wireless light is solid blue, it means the printer is connected.
  • If it’s blinking or off, the printer is not connected.

Use HP Smart App for Setup

  • Download or open the HP Smart app on your phone or computer.
  • Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your device.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to add your printer and connect it to Wi-Fi.
  • If prompted for a PIN, open the printer’s cartridge access door and use the PIN on the label inside.

Use Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) as an Alternative

If your router supports WPS:

  • On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button for 3 seconds until it starts blinking.
  • Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your router.
  • Wait for the Wireless light to turn solid blue.

Avoid Guest or Public Networks

  • Ensure you're not trying to connect to a guest or public Wi-Fi network, which may block printer communication.

Move Printer Closer to Router

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Max,

I have followed all of your suggested steps and the problem persists. My router does not have a WPS button.
