HP Officejet 6812e All-in-one pribter
iOS

I work almost exclusively with Apple iPads and over the years my printer listed above has always worked fine.  About 6 months ago I found that when I called for a print job my iPad could no longer find any air printers to print to.   This printer has been my go to printer for all my needs.   Both iPad and printer are connected to my home network as evidenced by the fact that my printer automatically orders ink cartridges when it senses it is running low.   I've tried every possible pairing - including trying to add the printer using its assigned IP address.  Nothing works.   I've downloaded the HP Smart app but it still cannot locate the printer on the network.   All the downloadable "diagnose problem" apps are for Windows products and my iPad is running iOS 14.   For some reason your printer's website identifies me as running Mac OS which I can't figure out.   Is there a driver specific to the 6812 printer whitch works with iOS 14?  Your site tells me my warranty is expired but the unit still makes copies, can send out emails but cannot print or scan to a personal device.   Thank you.

@Curt-Ga, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

There are no drivers for the printer to work on an iOS device. You either have to use the AirPrint driver or the HP Smart app.

Restart the wireless router, the printer, and the iOS device.

On the printer screen, go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore network settings

Go back to Network > Wireless > Wireless setup wizard and select your network.

  • Make sure the printer and the iOS device are connected to the same wireless network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.
  • Also, check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'.

Update the printer firmware

Go to Setup > Tools > Update the printer

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on the iOS device

Go to Settings > General > Update the software

  1. Make sure the printer is turned on, ink cartridges are installed, and plain paper is loaded in the main tray.

  2. Open the item you want to print, and then tap the Share icon or .

  3. Tap Print or the Print icon to open Printer Options.

  4. Tap Select Printer to select your printer.

  5. Change any of the following print job settings. Available settings vary depending on the app you are printing from, the print job type, and your printer.

    • Paper: Make any paper size changes on the printer. AirPrint automatically detects the paper size loaded in the printer or the size selected on the printer control panel. If the detected size is different than the paper in the tray, an error might display asking to confirm the size.

    • Number of copies: Select how many copies you want to print.

    • Black & White: Select to print in grayscale. This option only displays for color printers.

    • Double-sided printing: Print on both sides of the paper for certain file types.

    • Page range: Select specific pages within a document or webpage to print.
