Hello @eatherhay, Welcome to HP Community!
And thanks letting me know you've tried all the steps. Since your router doesn’t have a WPS button and the issue persists, here are a few additional steps that may help resolve the problem:
Advanced Troubleshooting Steps
1. Reset the Printer’s Network Settings Let’s start fresh:
- Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons on the printer for 5 seconds.
- The Wireless light should start blinking, indicating it's in setup mode.
2. Use HP Smart App with Manual Setup
- Open the HP Smart app on your phone or computer.
- Tap Add Printer > Set Up a New Printer.
- If automatic setup fails, choose Manual Setup or Wi-Fi Direct.
- If using Wi-Fi Direct, connect your device to the printer’s temporary network (e.g.,
HP-Setup-XXXX
) and follow the app instructions.
3. Check Wi-Fi Band Compatibility
- Ensure your printer is connecting to the 2.4GHz band of your Wi-Fi network (not 5GHz).
- You may need to temporarily disable the 5GHz band in your router settings or create a separate 2.4GHz SSID.
4. Assign a Static IP Address (Optional)
- Log into your router’s admin page (usually via
192.168.0.1
or192.168.1.1
). - Look for connected devices and assign a static IP to the printer if it appears.
- If not listed, try connecting the printer via USB and use the HP Smart app to manually assign an IP.
5. Update Printer Firmware via USB
- Connect the printer to your computer via USB.
- Visit HP Support Site and download the latest firmware for your model.
- Run the update tool and follow the instructions.
I hope this helps!
