Hi @BruceH6,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A blinking blue light on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 usually indicates an issue with the WiFi connection. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Check WiFi Network: Make sure your WiFi network is working properly by checking other devices. Restart your router if necessary.
Restart the Printer: Turn off your printer, wait a minute, and then turn it back on.
Reconnect to WiFi:
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup (gear icon) > Network > Wireless Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard.
- Select your WiFi network and enter the password.
Update Firmware: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the printer's control panel or HP's website. Update the firmware on an HP printer
Reconfigure Wireless Settings:
- On the printer's control panel, go to Setup > Network > Restore Network Settings.
- Then, try to reconnect to your WiFi network using the Wireless Setup Wizard as described above.
Reset Network Settings: If the above steps don’t work, you might need to reset the printer’s network settings and set up the wireless connection again.
