I'm trying to turn off wifi direct so I am able to connect to my old printer. I saw that the network symbol was blinking so I searched it and saw that I needed to turn off wifi direct. However I can't find any guides on turning of WiFi direct on my printer (deskjet 2632). It only has 6 buttons. Does anyone know how to turn off wifi direct on this printer?

Hi @Aliix,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The HP DeskJet 2632 does not have a dedicated button or display to toggle Wi-Fi Direct on and off. However, you can manage Wi-Fi Direct through the printer's embedded web server (EWS) or the HP Smart app. Here's how.

Using HP Smart App

  1. Download the HP Smart app on your smartphone or computer, if you haven’t already.
    • HP Smart for Windows/Mac
    • Available on App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
  2. Open the app and add your printer if it’s not already listed.
  3. Once connected, navigate to Printer Settings or a similar section.
  4. Look for Wi-Fi Direct Settings and disable it.

Using Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  1. Make sure the printer is connected to your network or directly to your computer via USB.
  2. Find the printer’s IP address:
    • For Windows: Open the Devices and Printers menu, locate your printer, right-click, and select "Properties" or "Printer Properties."
    • For Mac: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and click "Options & Supplies."
  3. Enter the IP address into a web browser's address bar to access the EWS.
  4. Log in if prompted (default credentials are often on a label on the printer or its manual).
  5. Go to the Networking or Wi-Fi Direct section and turn off Wi-Fi Direct.

Use Printer Buttons (if applicable)

On some models of the DeskJet series, you can disable Wi-Fi Direct by following these steps:

  1. Hold the Wi-Fi Direct button (or a combination of buttons, like Wi-Fi + Information) for 5-10 seconds.
  2. Check if the Wi-Fi Direct light stops blinking or turns off.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
