Hi I’m trying to print and it says cartridge failure

I understand you are getting a "cartridge failure" message on your HP DeskJet Plus 4120 can be frustrating, but here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue:
 

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the printer and carefully remove the ink cartridges.
  • Reinstall the cartridges, ensuring they click into place securely. Make sure you're using the correct cartridges for your printer model.

Clean the Contacts:

  • Check the contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer for dirt or ink buildup.
  • Use a lint-free cloth or a cotton swab lightly moistened with water to gently clean the contacts. Let them dry before reinstalling.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Make sure your printer has the latest firmware. You can check this through the HP Smart app or HP's official website.

Try a Different Cartridge:

  • If you have a spare cartridge, try replacing the current one to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the cartridge itself is faulty.

Check for Error Codes:

  • If the printer displays an error code along with the cartridge failure message, look it up on HP's support site for specific guidance.
