Hello Support,
I have 5 HP Printer 179 connected to our network, and I was not able to change the printer name during installation. How can we change the device name of each printers so we can distinguish the printers on our network? May I ask also the admin login of this printer on the web?
Thank you!

Hi @arcmicko,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are trying to change the device name of your HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw printers and to access the admin login for configuration, follow these steps:
Changing the Device Name
Access the Printer's Web Interface:
- Open a web browser on a computer connected to the same network as the printer.
- Enter the printer's IP address into the browser's address bar. If you don't know the IP address, you can print a configuration page from the printer's control panel to find it.
Log In to the Admin Interface:
- The default admin username is usually admin.
- The default password is often admin or 123456. If these don't work, you may need to check with whoever manages your network or the printer's documentation for the correct credentials.
Change the Device Name:
- Once logged in, navigate to the Network or Administration section.
- Look for an option labeled Device Name, Printer Name, or Host Name.
- Enter a new name that will help you identify each printer on your network.
- Save the changes and reboot the printer if required.
Accessing the Admin Login
Default Login Credentials:
- Username: admin
- Password: admin or 123456
Resetting Admin Password (if needed):
- If the default passwords have been changed and you don’t have the new ones, you might need to consult the printer’s manual for assistance in resetting the admin password.
After changing the names, you should be able to distinguish between your five printers more easily on your network.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
