Upon upgrading to AT&T Fiber 500 router, my Apple laptop can no longer find the J4680 printer even though the WiFi address and password have not changed. The printer recognizes the wireless network but after password entry indicates ERROR. The Wireless Network Test Report gives a PASS for everything except a FAIL for the "no filtering" test. It gives advice about disabling the MAC address filtering on the wireless router. AT&T customer service has looked at the installed router and states that there is no filtering enabled. Ideas for my next step? The printer is old and no longer serviced by HP but satisfies my needs.

Hi @R-10_
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It sounds like your HP Officejet J4680 is struggling to connect to your new AT&T Fiber 500 router, despite recognizing the network.
Since the Wireless Network Test Report indicates a FAIL for "no filtering", but AT&T confirms MAC address filtering is disabled, let's go through some troubleshooting steps.
1. Manually Add the Printer’s MAC Address to the Router
- Even if MAC filtering is disabled, some routers still require manual MAC address entry.
- Find your printer’s MAC address:
- Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer’s control panel.
- Look for the MAC address under Wireless Settings.
- Log into your AT&T router settings (AT&T Router Guide).
- Navigate to Wireless > MAC Filtering and add the printer’s MAC address.
2. Reset Printer Network Settings
- On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup → Network Settings.
- Select Restore Network Defaults.
- Reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi using the Wireless Setup Wizard.
3. Check Router Security Settings
- Some AT&T routers default to WPA3 security, which older printers may not support.
- Log into your router settings and change the Wi-Fi security mode to WPA2.
4. Try a Different Connection Method
- If Wi-Fi still fails, consider using a USB connection or Ethernet-to-Wi-Fi adapter.
Also make sure you are trying to connect to 2.4GHz network, because your printer model does not support 5GHz network.
If you are not sure of this please check with your ISP (Internet service provider).
Let me know if any of these steps help! I appreciate your patience while we work through this.
