Hi @Roadtrp,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

To connect your HP printer to a new Wi-Fi network, you need to update its network settings. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you configure your printer to recognize and connect to the new network:

Step 1: Restore Network Settings on the Printer (clears old Wi‑Fi)

This gives your printer a “fresh start” so it can join the new network.

If your printer has a touchscreen

  1. Touch Setup (⚙️)
  2. Tap Network Setup
  3. Tap Restore Network Settings
  4. Tap Yes

If your printer has buttons only

Press and hold:

📶 Wireless +  Cancel for 5 seconds

The blue Wi‑Fi light will start blinking → this means the printer is ready to join your new Wi‑Fi.

Step 2: Reconnect the Printer Using HP Smart

On your Windows PC:

  1. Open HP Smart
  2. Select + Add Printer
  3. HP Smart should show your printer as:
“Ready to Set Up” or HP‑Setup‑xxxx
  4. Select your new Wi‑Fi network
  5. Enter the Wi‑Fi password
  6. Wait until the printer shows a solid blue Wi‑Fi light

This confirms the printer is now fully connected to the new router.

Step 3: Remove & Re‑Add the Printer in Windows

Your PC is still trying to print to the old IP address from the old router.

Remove old entry:

  1. Start → Settings
  2. Bluetooth & Devices → Printers & Scanners
  3. Click your HP printer
  4. Select Remove

Add it fresh:

  1. Click Add Device
  2. Choose the printer that appears as:

HP ENVY / DeskJet / OfficeJet (Network)
OR
Secure AirPrint

Do not select USB, Fax, or WSD versions.

This creates a clean new print queue with the new Wi‑Fi details.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
