M15w

Moved house, turned the printer on and obviously met with the wifi light flashing as it can't find the old router. I look around for instructions.

  1. First technique is WPS, it tells me to "press and hold the wifi button until the light begins to flash". Firstly, the light is already flashing. Secondly, do you think you could not design buttons that require you to hold until the light flashes when your finger covers the light!! I try holding the button, putting the router into WPS mode. It won't connect, what a surprise.
  2. The next attempt, I try the app. It won't find my printer (the app has NEVER worked on this printer). It asks me if it can create a local wifi connection. This fails with an error
  3. The next attempt I try connecting to the router's wifi connection and i.p address. I connect, it asks for the password. I don't have one. The instructions tell me to hold a button that isn't even on the printer!! I try the cancel button instead. It prints a test page. I find out the password is just 12345678, real secure!! Eventually I change the wifi credentials and it connects

I can't remember the last time I was this frustrated with a piece of technology. How have you managed to make it this bad?? Has anyone at HP even tested the M15w?

Hi @SeeNoWeevil,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I see that you are facing an issue with your Printer.

Please follow the steps below to connect your printer to the network again.

1) Uninstall the HP smart app, Restart the printer and the computer or mobile device to clear possible error conditions.

2) Enable Wi-Fi setup mode: When you turn on your printer for the first time, it is temporarily placed in Wi-Fi setup mode so that it can be discovered during setup. Use the printer control panel to restore Wi-Fi setup mode, and then set up the printer again. Go to Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP printer for more information.

3) Refer to this link to use the HP smart app on your phone/tablet/PC to add a printer.

Note: Enable Bluetooth for an HP Smart app setup: Enable Bluetooth on your computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day ahead!

That's not at all helpful. I was trying to CHANGE the wifi password, not set it up for the first time. WPS on the M15w does NOT work. The app on the M15w does NOT work. This product is awful, the documentation is awful, the app is awful. May I suggest you get hold of a M15w and test this all out as it's clearly broken. I've tried it with multiple routers, multiple phones.

Hi @SeeNoWeevil,

Once the password is changed on your router, the printer gets disconnected from the network.

If you make any changes to the Wi-Fi router or change a new router the troubleshooting steps shared are the same.

Please follow the above steps to get the printer on the network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day ahead!
