Laserjet MFP M277dw
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

The printer prints normally for the first job (1 or more pages) when initially turned on. The second job, however, gives an error message that "The printer is not responding" and the printer power light remains on continuously. If I pause the printing from the computer, turn turn the printer off and then back on and resume printing from the computer, the paused job will print but the problem repeats with a second job. Scanning also freezes after one job. I connect to the printer via wifi and am using MacOS 10.13.6. On the computer, I have reinstalled printer drivers and deleted/added the printer. On the printer, I have updated the printer software & restored the defaults. This is a fairly recent problem and started before the printer software update. It occurs with multiple macs using different OS versions.

@DW1862, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve this issue by performing the necessary troubleshooting steps.

Since you have already tried the necessary steps and the issue persists with other MACs as well, this could be a hardware issue with the printer. Let us perform an NVRAM reset on the printer.

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
