Colour Laser 150NW
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Colour Laser 150 NW goes off line on my home wireless LAN.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled software and drivers several times on my PC and even set up the Printer wireless details using a USB link to my PC exactly as per the instructions.    Overnight/after significant standby period, the printer seems to drop off the wireless LAN and cannot be reached even with ping from CMD window.  The printer reappears online and prints successfully after Linksys WRT 1900 AC router is rebooted!

I have tried running the Print and Scan Doctor which keeps saying that "Recommended Updates" and "Port Match" fixes have been applied but the problem reoccurs after the printer drops off line again.  I have no idea what port settings are/should be.  I have also tried the embedded printer webpage on the LAN but it asks me for a username and password (which I have not set up) and I think there may be a sleep option there of three hours (as I recall) but I cannot access/change any of the settings.

Any help would be appreciated thank you!

This is a dual band router meaning it has 5.0 Ghz and 2.4 Ghz bands built in. The challenge is that most consumer model HP units while advertising 5Ghz Wifi, the chipset is typically following the old BG/N protocols and not the new AC protocols and do not communicate reliable. One solution to try is to setup your router with a different SSID for the 2.4Ghz channel and force the printer to only connect to the 2.4Ghz channel.

Hi Repairatrooper thanks for your input

I'd clocked that during my research and I have a router that broadcasts 2.4 and 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi.  I went in and changed the SSID on the 2.4 GHz to a different name as I understand that the printer won't work on the 5 GHz side.  This has not cured the problem although I have left the password the same on both SSID's which is the only common thing.

Any other ideas?

Cheers, Pablo
