Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I installed HP Secure Print for Chrome Extension which is asking for a configuration URL. I have searched google as much as I can for other community posts and have entered every IP address on my HP Network Configuration Page, went through Embedded Web Server and made sure web services are enabled and made sure I'm connected to same wifi network and VPN is off. I can't seem to find the right url to enter to make extension work. Each time I get error message: Error: Invalid configuration URL. Please contact your local IT Administrator for help.

@theacunamatatas, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

The HP Secure Print for Chrome Extension (also referred to as HP Print for Chrome) requires a configuration URL only when used in enterprise or managed environments typically set by an IT administrator.

Since you're using an HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 and have already enabled Web Services and confirmed network connectivity, you don’t need the Secure Print extension unless you're part of a managed print environment.

Instead, use the HP app or HP Print for Chrome (without Secure Print) for direct printing:

👉 HP printer setup (HP Print for Chrome) | HP® Support

Steps:

  1. Remove the Secure Print extension from Chrome.
  2. Install the standard HP Print for Chrome extension from the Chrome Web Store.
  3. Make sure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  4. Open a document or webpage → Press Ctrl + P → Select your printer from the list.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
