Hi @Nick4949,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To connect your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w printer to a new Wi-Fi router, you can follow these steps.
Reset the Printer's Network Settings
- Turn on the printer.
- Press and hold the Wireless button (it looks like a Wi-Fi symbol) for about 5 seconds until the wireless light starts blinking. This resets the wireless settings.
Connect the Printer to the New Wi-Fi Network
- Download the HP Smart app on your smartphone or tablet from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
- Open the HP Smart app and click on the "+" icon to add a new printer.
- The app should automatically detect your printer. If not, you can select "Add Printer" manually.
- Follow the prompts to connect the printer to your new Wi-Fi network. You may need to enter the Wi-Fi password.
Print a Network Configuration Page
- After connecting, you can print a network configuration page to verify the connection:
- Press the "Information" button on the printer control panel (it looks like an "i" or a page icon).
- This will print a page showing the printer’s network status.
Install Printer Drivers (if necessary)
- If you haven't already, download and install the latest drivers for your printer from the HP support website.
- Follow the instructions to complete the installation.
Note:
- Ensure the printer and router are within range and there are no obstructions.
- Restart your router and printer if the connection fails.
- If you're still having issues, consider using the Wi-Fi Direct feature, which allows the printer to connect directly to your device without a router.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
