Hi @PatM20,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I understand how frustrating it can be to spend hours trying to reconnect the printer, especially after changing your network. Since the HP DeskJet 4222e was previously working and you now have a new network, the best approach is to clear the printer's previous wireless settings and put it back into Wi-Fi setup mode, then add it again through the HP app.
Please follow these steps in order:
1. Restore the printer's Wi-Fi setup mode
On the DeskJet 4222e:
- Make sure the printer is powered on and ready.
- Press the Cancel (X) button once.
- Press and hold the Wireless button and Cancel (X) button together for about 5 seconds.
- Release the buttons when the Power button starts blinking.
- Wait until the blue Wireless light is blinking continuously.
This clears the previous wireless connection and puts the printer back into Wi-Fi setup mode. HP confirms these are the applicable steps for the DeskJet 4200/4200e series.
2. Add the printer using the HP app
On your Windows 11 computer:
- Make sure the PC is connected to your new Wi-Fi network.
- Turn Bluetooth ON temporarily so the HP app can discover the printer.
- Disconnect from any VPN if one is being used.
- Place the printer reasonably close to the router during setup.
- Open the HP app.
- Select Add device (+).
- Choose Set Up a New Printer and follow the on-screen instructions.
It's important to add the printer in the HP app within two hours of restoring Wi-Fi setup mode; otherwise, the setup mode can time out, and you may need to repeat the reset.
If the HP app still cannot find the printer after the network reset, please let us know:
- The make and model of your new router
- Approximately how far the printer is from the router
- Whether your router has separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi names, or uses one combined name
- Whether the blue Wireless light is blinking or solid
- Whether the HP app gives you any specific error
With those details, we can narrow down where the connection is failing rather than having you repeatedly reinstall the printer.
Take care and have an amazing day!
