HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a Dell computer with an HP Officejet 9025 printer connected wireless. Its been working fine. I recently purchased another Dell XPS 8960 with windows 11. I have been trying to set it up to see my printer with no success. I have everything on the same wireless network. The only way the new computer will see the printer is if it searches by IP address. It loads the printer fine as Direct-AD-HP Officejet Pro 9020 but says the driver is unavailable. I tried loading drivers from the HP site but still no success. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    • On the printer's control panel, go to Wireless Settings or Network Settings.
    • Check the network name (SSID) and ensure it's the same as your new computer's.

2. Remove Incorrect Printer Installations

  • Open Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners on your new Dell XPS.
  • Remove any existing entries for the printer, especially the Direct-AD-HP Officejet Pro 9020 listing. Click on it and select Remove Device.

3. Manually Install the Printer Driver

  • Visit the HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 Drivers page.
  • Download and install the Full Feature Software and Driver for Windows 11.
  • During the installation, select the Wireless Connection option.

4. Add the Printer via the HP Smart App HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

  • Download the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store.
  • Launch the app and sign in with your HP account.
  • Select Add Printer and follow the prompts to connect it to your network.

5. Manually Add the Printer Using IP Address

If the HP Smart app doesn't work:

Find the printer's IP address:

  • On the printer control panel, go to Settings > Network > View Network Details.
  • Note the IPv4 address (e.g., 192.168.1.xxx).

Add the printer manually:

  • Open Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select Add a Printer or Scanner > The printer I want isn't listed.
  • Choose Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname and enter the IP address.
  • Select Have Disk and navigate to the location of the downloaded driver if prompted.

6. Update Windows

  • Ensure your new computer is running the latest version of Windows 11.
    • Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for Updates.

7. Disable Direct Print Mode

  • The Direct-AD-HP Officejet Pro 9020 suggests the printer is in Wi-Fi Direct mode.
    • On the printer, disable Wi-Fi Direct if you're using a standard wireless connection:
      • Go to Settings > Wi-Fi Direct > Turn Off.

8. Test Printing

Once installed, test the printer by printing a test page from the new computer.

Refer to this document:  HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 All-in-One Printer User manual

HP PCs - Connecting a monitor, projector, or TV (Windows)

HP PCs - Using two or more monitors with one computer (Windows 11, 10)

HP PCs - Connecting to a wireless monitor or smart TV (Windows 11, 10)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
