I just bought a HP eco tank 5101.   I had the hardest time getting it to connect to my Brightspeed    A week later I switched to star link and I feel like I have tired everything and can’t get it to connect to wifi.  I’m trying to connect it using the HP app.    Any help would be appreciated!

Hi @Lauren218,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding connecting HP Smart Tank 5101 to Starlink Wi-Fi!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Wi-Fi Network Compatibility:

  • Ensure that the printer and Starlink router are capable of operating on a common frequency band. The HP Smart Tank 5101 typically supports the 2.4 GHz band, so ensure it is enabled on your Starlink router.

Use the HP Smart App for Setup:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your device.
  • Select “Add a Printer” or the printer setup option within the app.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to detect and add the printer to your existing Wi-Fi network.

Printer Wireless Setup Mode:

  • Reset the printer's network settings to initiate wireless setup. This is typically done through the control panel:
    • Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer until the light blinks, entering Wireless Setup mode.

Ensure Proximity:

  • Place the printer close to the Starlink router temporarily during setup to ensure strong signal reception.

Manual Network Configuration:

  • If automatic setup fails, try configuring the network manually through the printer’s control panel:
    • Enter the network SSID and password manually if required.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Make sure your Starlink router and HP printer have been updated with the latest firmware to ensure compatibility and stability.

Disable Advanced Router Features:

  • Temporarily disable any advanced features like MAC filtering, network isolation, or firewall settings that might block the printer from connecting. Test the connection after adjustments are made.

Restart Devices:

  • Power cycle both your Starlink router and HP printer. Turn them off, wait for a few seconds, and then turn them back on.

Try Ethernet or USB Workaround:

  • If the wireless connection remains unresolved, consider temporarily connecting the printer via Ethernet if the router supports it, or USB if your computer has that capability.

I hope this helps.
