HP Office jet 250 mobile
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Although we got the printer/scanner functions working when connected to terrestrial wifi, we are now back on our boat in a bay. The wifi signal via my phone hotspot is good and I am connected to the internet on my laptop via the hotspot. The printer is also connected to the hotspot. I have windows 10 OS.

Problem 1
I have tried to connect the computer as described in the video to the printer WIFI direct. Although I can select the wifi direct option in printers and scanners, when I enter the WPS Pin it says it didn't work. I have double checked I am using the Wifi direct correct pin. Please advise on how the get around this problem.

Problem 2
Also in printers and scanners  in settings, I can see the 250 mobile listed but it also says it is offline when it is connected to the same wifi as the laptop. Why is this, can you advise how to enable the printer to be seen as online. Are there any issues with firewalls, I have Windows defender.

Problem 3
I do have HP Smart app loaded but I can not print or scan because the printer to laptop says it is not connected.

Problem 4
I have run the print and scan doctor programme. This tells me the printing options are all working fine but the scan driver is red. I have tried the suggested rebooting of both the printer and the laptop, neither has solved the problem, and I am further advised to seek help from HP Support.

Problem 5
We also have an Apple Mac pro and the printer and scanning options sometimes work through this device so could the problems I experience be to do with Windows 10?

I am not technical so any advice needs to be simple with all steps clearly outlined please.
Kind regards and thank you in advance for your help,

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting 5 issues related to your connectivity on your printer, I am glad to assist you.

This seems to be an issue with the WiFi Direct, follow these steps to fix the issue.

Restore the printer to the original network settings

1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch ( Setup ).

2. Touch Network Setup.

3. Touch Restore Network Settings. A message appears stating that the network defaults will be restored.

4. Touch Yes.

5. Print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset.

To turn on Wi-Fi Direct

1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch (Wi-Fi Direct).

2. Touch (Setup).

3. If the display shows that Wi-Fi Direct is off, touch Wi-Fi Direct and then switch it on.

Follow steps mentioned in page number 54 in this user guide to print using WiFi direct:- Click here
