My printer continually disconnects and this time I can't get it to reconnect. I restarted the computer and printer multiple times, and I reset the wifi connection on the printer. The signal says excellent and confirmed a positive connection. What can I do?

Hi @FredS85.,

I understand your HP ENVY 5000 printer connectivity issue. You’ve already done some solid checks, so let’s focus on a few deeper steps that usually resolve this.

Restore Network Settings on the Printer

  1. On the printer control panel, go to Setup (gear icon).
  2. Select “Network Setup” or “Wireless Settings.”
  3. Choose “Restore Network Settings” or “Restore Defaults.”
  4. Confirm the reset.
  5. Reconnect the printer to Wi-Fi using the Wireless Setup Wizard.

Reconnect Using the HP App

  1. Open the HP app on your computer.
  2. Click “+ Add Printer” or “Set up a new printer.”
  3. Select your HP ENVY 5000 from the list.
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to reconnect it to your Wi-Fi.
  5. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your laptop during setup (if prompted).

Assign a Manual IP Address

  1. Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer.
  2. Note the current IP address.
  3. Open a browser and enter that IP address.
  4. Go to Network > IPv4 Configuration.
  5. Set the IP to “Manual” and assign an IP outside the router’s automatic range (for example: 192.168.1.200).
  6. Save the settings and restart the printer.

Update Printer Port on Laptop

  1. Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click your printer and select “Printer properties.”
  3. Go to the “Ports” tab.
  4. Select “Add Port” > Standard TCP/IP Port.
  5. Enter the new manual IP address you assigned.
  6. Apply changes and try printing.

Reduce Network Interference

  1. Place the printer closer to the router.
  2. Avoid placing it near metal objects or microwaves.
  3. Connect both printer and laptop to the same band (preferably 2.4 GHz).
  4. Disable any VPN temporarily while printing.
  5. Restart the router after making these changes.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Best regards,
