The printer works fine and then stops working out of the blue. I have been through all the help assistant suggestions. It is working okay and then it stops printing. Diagnostics suggest connectivity is a fail! When this happens the touch pad does not work even though the wifi light is working. I keep having to unplug and disconnect and reconnect. This printer is two weeks old and I have done this every day. The printer sits right next to the outer which is working perfectly. My old HP Officejet 8600 worked without a problem for over 10 years.

Hi @Pughj48,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the frustration with your new HP OfficeJet Pro 8122e having connectivity issues. It's unusual for a brand new printer to behave this way, especially since your older HP Officejet 8600 worked flawlessly for over a decade. Let's troubleshoot the connectivity drops on your new printer.
Here are some steps you can try:
Check for Loose Connections: Double-check that the power cable and any USB cables (if using a wired connection) are firmly plugged into the printer and the respective outlets/ports on your computer. Loose cables can cause intermittent connectivity issues.
Restart the Printer and Router: A simple restart can often resolve temporary glitches. Turn off the printer, router, and your computer. Wait for 30 seconds, then turn on the router first, followed by the printer, and finally your computer.
Update Printer Firmware: Outdated firmware can sometimes lead to connectivity problems. Visit HP's website to see if there are any firmware updates available for your specific printer model. Download and install any updates you find. Update the firmware on an HP printer
Reset Network Settings (on the Printer): This erases any saved network configurations and forces the printer to re-establish connection. Consult your printer's user manual on the specific steps to reset network settings.
Reinstall Printer Drivers: If the above steps don't resolve the issue, try reinstalling the printer drivers. On Windows 11, you can typically uninstall and reinstall the drivers from the Settings menu.
Additional Tips:
- Ensure the Router is on the 2.4 GHz Band: Some printers may not be compatible with the 5 GHz band on your router. Try switching your router to the 2.4 GHz band temporarily and see if the connectivity improves. You can usually change this setting by logging into your router's web interface.
- Move the Printer Closer to the Router: If possible, try placing the printer closer to your router to improve the signal strength.
