Common problems for Connectivity Issues

Ongoing issues with connectivity for some time whereby I can print from iPhone & iPad via HP Smart yet when I try to print or scan via my Mac the printer states it is "off line" (its on the same network) when I open HP Smart on my Mac.   I have connected the printer via a lead to the Mac to no avail (this action worked previously) which is the latest issue to arise and I can no longer print or scan from the Mac with the lead connected. I can still print via my iPhone & iPad.

 Error messages occasionally show on my Mac that my "session has expired" and I log back into HP Smart with no success. I also received an error message for the first time today that "Scanner reported an error" (com.apple.imagecapture.error 4294967249). 

I have deleted/reinstalled the printer no avail.  

Any suggestions to resolve these issues would be greatly appreciated.
