Hi there,

Can anyone help me with a printer issue that is driving me twitty!

Every 2 pages I print, I have to run the Scan Doctor as the printing goes out of alignment and is blurry and smudgy looking. Scan Doctor runs, tells me it has fixed a 'port match issue' and then the printer prints perfectly for 2/3 pages. Then I have to run the Scan Doctor again. It then tells me the same 'port match issue' has been fixed again and then prints perfectly again for another couple of pages.

I'm having to do this 'fix' over and over again.

Two weeks ago, I contacted support who took remote control of my screen, told me the port match was due to the IP address changing and the printer being confused about where it was supposed to be sending it's information. He made some 'corrections' and the printer was fine for quite some days and I thought the issue was sorted but here I am again! I've checked the IP address on the printer and everything seems to match up but the continual port match issue is needing fixing every 2 pages printed.

I've wasted tons of time and around 120 sheets of card with this issue over the last few weeks. I run a small home based business so cannot be messing about endlessly running fixes. It's actually making me anxious before I print!!!!

Can anyone help? Or do I just have to keep having support sessions every fortnight? Is there a permanent fix for this.

Thanks so much for any help you can give. I am not madly 'techy' so please keep it idiot proof!

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Hi there and thank you for your response. I've followed all your steps and all went as expected but am now unable to access the driver download using the link you supplied. Not sure if HP are having a glitch with the website but I am currently unable to access anything on HP at all. It's just got a continual 'Bad Request' coming up so have no driver at all now for the printer.   😞

Hi,

I managed to download the drivers I needed by using the HP Print & Scan Doctor so I am just about to check the printer now...

BRB...

Okay... 1st page printed great so tried a second and still exactly the same. Ran P & S Doctor and still it's saying Port Match Issue has been fixed. Ran it again and still the same error.

I would suggest you try the Windows built-in drivers. Follow the steps below:

•    Go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.

•    When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.

•    Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.

Refer to this document HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver for help.
