I have an HP Deskjet 2652 that was left behind from an old roommate. I am trying to set it up in my new home, but am blocked by the custom password. I've tried resetting it by methods described online, but the problem persists.
How can I eliminate the password or factory rest my device?

Hi @Rey27,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you've attempted the standard methods for resetting the printer and still can't eliminate the custom password, you might want to try a more thorough reset process. Here's a step-by-step guide:
- Power Cycle: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on again. Sometimes, a simple power cycle can resolve minor issues.
- Hard Reset: Look for a small pinhole or reset button on the printer. It's usually located near the power button or on the back of the printer. Insert a paperclip or a similar tool into the pinhole and press and hold the reset button for about 10-15 seconds. This should perform a hard reset on the printer, restoring it to factory settings.
- Network Settings Reset: If the printer is connected to a network, you might need to reset its network settings as well. Most printers have an option to reset network settings in the settings menu. Refer to the printer's manual
- Default Password: If the printer prompts you for a password after the reset, try using the default password. For HP printers, the default password is often either "admin" or "password".
Refer to this document: HP DeskJet 2652 All-in-One Printer User manual
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
