Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

macOS 12.0 Monterey

The D110 printer display shows Not Connected message and the HP Smart app gets an error when trying to set up the printer.  I cannot add the printer to my Mac as it gets an error when clicking the printer 'Unable to communicate with the printer at this time'.   I can select the new network when I follow the Wireless Setup Wizard and successfully enter the password.. The Wireless Network Test report shows the wireless printer was set up successfully but the IP address does not show on the display, instead it shows Not Connected. The printer worked successfully prior to the router change printing from both my Mac and iPhone and visitors were also able to print from their devices.  I have restarted router and printer multiple times and followed instructions on other posts such as Restoring Network Settings. The Disconnect Count Total on the wireless Network Test report is 286 and a ping of the IP address listed 100% packet loss.

@NancyAD, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I see that the printer is not wirelessly connected to the Mac. Let us try these steps:

  • Restart the router, the printer, and the Mac

On the printer screen, go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore network settings

Go back to Network > Wireless > Wireless setup wizard and select your network.

  • Make sure the printer and the Mac are connected to the same wireless network. Use 2.4GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.
  • Also, check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'.

Bonjour locates devices such as printers, other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network using multicast Domain Name System (mDNS) service records. The software comes built-in with Apple's macOS and iOS operating systems.

  • This printer supports WPA encryption, check if the router is on the same encryption method. If using WEP or WPA-PSK+FT change it to WPA-PSK

Perform a ping test to check the connectivity

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer by clicking on the Wireless icon on the printer
  2. Open a new Terminal window (it's located in Applications > Utilities, or you can just start typing it in Spotlight).
  3. Enter “ping” followed by the IP address of the printer.
  4. Press Return. Press ctrl C after 10 pings
  5. There should be 0% packet loss, share the results in your next post.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on Mac

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.
