HP Deskjet 2600 All in One Series
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

i have a new HP Deskjet 2650. This is my first wirelessly capable printer / scanner After the setup the .Deskjet 2650 can't print wirelessly. The blue wireless button comes on at power up and does not blink. The display shows no error codes when the information button is pressed. It does print when connected via the USB cable. The Welcome to Wi-Fi Direct! page says to "Select the Wi iFi Direct name for the printer from the list  of available printers". I can only guess where to find this list. I suspect they are referring  too the W10 control panel. >Control Panel>devices and printers>HP Deskjet 2600 series., it being the only printer in that list.  Clicking that, it never ask for a password. I am stuck on a a dead end road. I would appreciate any help I can get.   Tnx

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

Would suggest that you do a reset, download and install HP FULL software for use:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-deskjet-2600-all-in-one-printer-series...

These resources will be useful for the printer:

Hope that helps!

As suggested I download the software package for the printer. I quickly discovered that this was identical to the software package previously used. Unfortunate3ly it too displayed the same plethora of contradictory instructions and actions. At the beginning the setup instructs the user to connect the USB cable to the PC and printer. It even has a graphic showing the connection. Oddly enough the instructions and graphic makes no statement to plug in the printer power cord and when to turn on the printer as is customary with all other printers I have encountered. Kit raises the question of how its possible to setup a non powered printer. On the same setup screen it appears to be needing to be told that the operator will connect the print via the cable at a later date, despite the fact that the user had already been instructed to do so. Being the fact that the connection was already done, the logical course would be too leave that inquiry box blank. On the planet I live on the user would then be required to confirm the selection by a mouse click. Upon looking it then is determined that a button on screen or a keyboard enter button exist to confirm the choice. The only option shown is the cancel button suggesting that the choice is of no relevance. Clicking the cancel button sends the user back to the previous screen and end up just repeating the same process over a second time left to only click the cancel button. At this point the user is trapped in a endless loop. All that's left is to press Ctrl, Alt & Delete and go back and again download another copy of the software. Oddly the setup never ask for the printer to be powered up and states the USB setup has been completed to then convert the USB connection to a wireless connection. Even more oddly when the user finally applies power the blue LED indicator comes on and stays on. And finally its found that a print job can be successfully used via the USB cable ,just as it had been doing before this recent attempt had been tried.

According to one of the videos suggested utilizing a pr5ogram called “ HP Easy Start”. It's stated that it is included in the software package for the printer. A search of the PC for it finds nothing. This program does not match anything similar to the setup that's alleged to be the designated setup software.

Hi,

Can do an uninstall and reinstall of the software?

If you are using USB connection, then do not plug in the cable until prompted by the software.

If connecting wirelessly, then do a wireless reset as shown in the video and then install the software.

The HP FULL software should already be on your PC, so can skip the downloading step.

Hope that helps.

The third attempt tp  uninstall and reinstall ended with the same issues that appeared in the first two attempts.

If you are using USB connection, then do not plug in the cable until prompted by the software.

I thought it was made clear that connecting the cable was an issue that need to be corrected or clarified ..If you attempted to  follow the instruction literally.  You would connect the cable at the beginning of the setup process. Then afterwards you would again be instructed to connect the cable a second time later in the setup or equally the software would instruct to connect a different USB cable in addition to the first cable installed. If that was not there intent then your were being instructed ti disconnect the first cable and then reconnect it back to where it had been already connected. Just as interesting the software never instructs if or when to turn on AC power of the printer. Somehow we are expected to believe that the printer could connect to the PC with no power.

f connecting wirelessly, then do a wireless reset as shown in the video and then install the software.

I don't believe that a reset can occur with the AC power not connected,

The HP FULL software should already be on your PC, so can skip the downloading step.

This was found to correct. It was discovered that the full web pack is not full as claimed in Section 7 of the printer manual. It turns out that the full web pack s only needed to setup the wired USB connection, and plays little if any role in converting the usb connection wireless. To perform the conversion you must download from Microsoft an additional app

HPEasyStart_12_2_5163_01   Then using it, the USB connection can be converted to wireless operation.

HPEasyStart_12_2_5163_01    Problem solved.
