Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

I have a Deskjet 2700e All-in-one. It will not connect to the Wi-Fi. I can't print from my phone nor my computer. The apps do not have an option to help me set up the Wi-Fi on the computer (which is odd planning, looking at you HP) and the troubleshooting Assistant only posts giant trouble shooting lists that don't help and don't tell me how to connect a screenless printer to my Wi-Fi. 

 

Yes, I unplugged it and plugged it back in. Yes, I tried restarting everything. No, my Wi-Fi app (Xfinity) does not see the printer to connect it through my WiFi. It sees the (previous connection) printer is not available for connection. 

 

I also tried previous suggestions from this forum that don't work because the printer itself is not discoverable. I've only used the printer a few times. I'm extremely frustrated.

I understand how frustrating it is when your printer won’t connect to Wi-Fi. For screenless printers like the HP DeskJet 2700e series, setting up Wi-Fi can be tricky without clear instructions. Here are some steps to get your printer reconnected:

1. Reset the Printer’s Network Settings

  • Steps:
    1. With the printer powered on, press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button (both are on the control panel) for 5 seconds.
    2. The wireless light should blink, indicating that the printer's network settings have been reset.

2. Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi

Using the HP Smart app:

Download the HP Smart app on your phone or computer:

  • Windows/macOS: HP Smart app
  • iOS/Android: Available in the App Store or Google Play.

Ensure your device is on the same Wi-Fi network you want the printer to connect to.

Open the HP Smart app and:

  • Click Add Printer.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi.

If prompted, you may need to temporarily connect your phone/computer to the printer's Wi-Fi Direct network (named HP-Setup-DeskJet2700).

3. Manually Add the Printer Using Wi-Fi Direct

If the HP Smart app fails to discover the printer:

  1. Press and hold the Information button on the printer until all control panel lights illuminate.
  2. Press the Information button and Wireless Direct button together to print a configuration page.
  3. Find the printer’s Wi-Fi Direct name and password on this page.
  4. On your computer or phone:
    • Go to Wi-Fi settings.
    • Connect to the printer's Wi-Fi Direct network.
  5. Open a browser and type 192.168.223.1 to access the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS).
  6. Navigate to Network settings and follow instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi.

4. Check Router Settings

Ensure your router is:

  • Using a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band (most HP printers don’t support 5 GHz).
  • Not set to “hidden SSID” or MAC filtering mode.
  • Allowing new devices to connect.

5. Advanced Troubleshooting

  • Restart your router and check for firmware updates.
  • If Xfinity is your ISP, use their app to pause/unpause devices or allow new connections.
  • Ensure your phone’s Bluetooth is enabled, as the HP Smart app uses Bluetooth for initial discovery.
