Deskjet 2724 all-in-one
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Have tried everything to get my new printer to print wirelessly.  Set up connects ok, finds printer, says on line & ready & I can scan from computer (Dell Inspiron 3593, BT modem)  However, when trying to print shows "error, unable to print"

Tried all solutions - trouble shooters, delete installation & re-install - but none work.

Any solutions welcome!

Hi@ramgus, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Please try the below steps to factory reset the Deskjet printers.

Unplug the power chord from the printer, when the printer is on.

Leave the printer for 30sec

Press and hold the power button and the cancel button at the same time, and plug the power chord in the printer.

once the printer is turned on leave the button.

Keep me posted. Happy to help!

Thank you for your help.

However, I have somehow managed to get the computer to link to the printer.  I discovered that a second Dell computer printed ok, although I had not downloaded anything from HP on it.  It must have found it automatically. (this one is on Windows 8).

The only change I then made was to share the printer under 'printer properties' on both machines and restart.

Whether this was the answer I don't know, but it seems to work for now.

I will keep your advice for future reference, in case the problem returns.

Thanks again.

Hi@ramgus

When making the shared network printer while printer all the computer as to be on every time and delay in the printer needs to check the print jobs befor printing

I suggest connecting the printer to the router WIFi is a good option.

Click here to find WPS password of your new router.

  • Make sure you know your network name and your security password is handy.
  • On the printer's control panel, go to the Network menu or touch the wireless icon and then go to settings. Select Wireless Setup Wizard. The Wireless Setup Wizard displays a list of wireless networks in the area.
  • Settings may be accessed by touching a wrench icon.
  • Select your wireless network's name from the list.
  • If you don't see your wireless network listed, you can enter your network name manually by scrolling to the bottom of the list. If you enter the name manually it must be exact, including upper and lower case characters.
  • Enter your WEP key or WPA passphrase. You must enter the key or passphrase exactly, including upper and lower case characters. Your printer should connect to your wireless network. If it does not connect, you are given the opportunity to print a Wireless Network Test report that will help you find out what may be wrong.

Follow the steps mentioned under HP Wireless Setup Wizard in the document.

Let me know how it goes.

Thank you for that.

As everything seems to be working OK at the moment, I am reluctant to make any changes for now.

I will keep your advice on file for future reference.

Thanks again.
