Halfway through a printing, the printer upchucks and disconnects from WiFi. Nothing else is disconnected, but now, suddenly, this POS REFUSES to connect, no matter which way I try, be it through the HP Smart, through WiFi Direct, I do not have WSP on either my router OR this brick,. Now, trying to let y'all know what paperweight I now have sitting on my desk, of course my SERIAL NUMBER is rejected. Should I just throw this entire printer away and start over with another product, or is there some semblance of hope in my near future? Honestly, I think a new printer would be cheap therapy after I take a hammer to this counterfeit piece of property.
Deskjet 2742e All-in-One
Unexpected error occurred: cannot connect to WiFi at this time. 4.5 hours as of right now
WiFi must be enabled in order to connect to WiFi direct It's enabled or else HP Smart wouldn't be able to recognize the **bleep** thing, right? The WiFi button light is blinking, as is the power light
Oh, yeah! That reminds me. Why did they take away your ability to GET INSTRUCTIONS DIRECTLY ON THE PANEL?!
IP address listed when I printed the info is "invalid" and must be ported. I'm not a tech geek; I barely even know which type of ports I need to use, much less which of all these ports are the appropriate ones!

@Phoenix404, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
I understand the printer is not connected to the wireless network. As this model printer does not have a touch screen, we have to use the WPS button to connect the printer.
In your post, you mentioned you do not have a WPS button on the router. is that correct?
In this case, use a USB cable to connect the printer to the network
Refer to - Changing from a USB to a Wireless Connection
Wifi Direct is used when you do not have access to a wireless router.
For more info, refer to - HP printer setup (Wi-Fi Direct)
Note: There will be no internet connection on the computer while using this option.
Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.
